Labyrinth Lessons – Gone

This reflection is from a labyrinth walk at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church on 6/5/2022 @ 5:45 pm.  White’s Chapel UMC is located at 185 S White Chapel Blvd in Southlake, TX 76092.

I couldn’t even begin to remember why I titled this ‘Gone’. But I do remember how much I enjoy walking this labyrinth- every time I’ve walked it… and I’ve walked it several times.

You may recall from previous labyrinth lessons that I really, really find a sense of peace at this labyrinth. And, like in previous labyrinth walks, I had two sets of three ‘revelations’ with the walk.  This first set I’m sharing here, and the second set I’ll share in two weeks time.

When you listen, listen with your whole heart.

Seek out that which resonates deep within you.

The first Malcolm Gladwell book I ever read was Blink, and I was fascinated by Gladwell’s ability to unpack all the layers of how we think, process information, and respond- often intuitively.

There’s a lot of speculation about ‘gut’ instinct and intuition and the roles they play in our actions and responses. I believe in that.

However, I think it’s important dig deep- past the things that feed our ego, insecurities and false beliefs- to find what is really being spoken to us.

It is often the layers of complexity which makes something beautiful.

Though we all claim that we want things to be easy- easy often isn’t appreciated or valued..

It is easier for us to see beauty in layer and complex designs rather than in one dimensional surfaces.

When we look- and choose to see, we can see the beauty in the complexity of life.
