SheliDodson.com was created as a gateway into my world- it’s a sneak peak into my thinking, adventures and life.
My story
I didn’t set out to build three businesses. I set out to figure out who I actually was underneath the hats I’d been wearing: co-parent, professional, small business owner, friend, neighbor, community leader, the go-to person who everyone thought had it together. Two divorces and a lot of therapy later, I learned that the work of becoming yourself requires me to actually live, not just perform.
That’s where all of this comes from. Desiderata Consulting is the coaching side- the tough love and practical wisdom I wish someone had handed me years earlier. Fortis Fidei lets people wear their convictions instead of tucking them away. Even the products I rep, MONAT and doTERRA, fit the same thread- taking care of yourself is part of the work, not separate from it. Different pieces, same belief: you are worth the work.
What's up with that logo?
My logo was long-thought and intentional in its creation. I wanted something that represented all the facets of my personality… so let’s break it down…
The triangle represents… so many things! It’s the three sides of me- the private side that only those closest to me see, my public persona- which is much the same (except for that small percentage of me that you don’t see), and my personal side, which is just for me.
It also reflects some of the most important elements my faith – God, Jesus & Holy Spirit.
Then there’s my mind, body & soul; plus the idea of body, soul & spirit.
Inside the triangle is the Taijitu, more universally known as a Yin Yang symbol.
I incorporated the yin yang symbol because it represents the duality of life (as I see it) and the complementary and opposing forces at work in ourselves, our lives and the world.
However, the yin yang symbol has been modified by me- I replaced the two dots (called the seeds).
What was formerly the Seed of Yin (the black dot inside the white half, which represents dark, passive energy waiting to grow) is now a heart representing LOVE (of course!). Within that heart is a cross (another reflection of my faith)… and a reminder that it is the core of who I am and what I believe.
What was formerly the Seed of Yang (the white dot inside the black half that represents the bright, active energy waiting to emerge) is now an Awen symbol.
An Awen is a Celtic symbol representing balance, equality and inspiration. Its the creative spark inside me that I am sharing with you.
So, what do I actually do?
Honestly, a little bit of everything- but it’s not as scattered as it looks. Desiderata Consulting is where the real work happens- Splankna, SPARK, and ICE, three different ways to get you unstuck depending on what you need. Fortis Fidei lets you wear your values instead of hiding them. And yes, I also rep MONAT and doTERRA- because good hair days and a calmer nervous system are ‘worth the work’ too. It’s all the same mission, just different doors in.
Splankna
