You are here:

It’s Thursday morning, and I’m tired. I’ve worked a 12-hour day, a 14-hour day and a 16-hour day this week. Many of the folks on my team are working 6 to 7 days a week. Many are also  scrambling for child care so that they can be able to work. Several are still going into the office, and others are working from home with their children underfoot. Young children, who don’t understand why they can’t be the center of attention over the course of their parents 8-16 hour work from home day.

That is frustrating, but the real challenge lies with how we have been treated. Treated by people that we know have their own fears, frustrations and challenges, people who show very little consideration for our struggles happening behind the scenes.

The concept of putting on your own oxygen mask/life preserver before helping others does NOT mean it’s ok to be rude, hurtful and abusive to others in the process.

Please try to be encouraging uplifting and positive today, regardless of how your day is actually going. Showing people some grace will go a lot further than screaming at them. This is coming from someone who’s been screamed at every day, for over a week.
